My response -

AVCF and HT,

now it is August, 2013 and why take so long for the audit of ADOS  2012 to be completed?  If it is messy/manipulated/in disorder, it is not possible to do a proper audit unless its bookkeeping is done correctly.  For this sort of account, the audit needs more care and time consuming.  Why should this be when ADOS is 50 years old and a proper system should have been in place.

HT also wrote that 2010/2011 accounts would be re-audited after 2012 audit is done and it is now September, 2013.  From all the information available, it is quite impossible to do a proper audit if so many items cannot be explained properly.  Any auditors would be wary of the implications of such audit or re-audit after so many comments already made every where.  Do you think such auditors would like to take the blame after so much scrutiny already exposed.  Opinions already formed and the re-audit would need to show a higher level of performance and more documents would need to be produced for the auditors to do a proper job and if such documents are not easily available, then the said Auditor's report would likely be a farce.

From a brief look at the ADOS's accounts  2010 and 2011as presented at the Synod Aug/Sep 2012, a large junk of the activities of ADOS were omitted in the accounts and some activities were not supported by proper accounts. Hence, there are many missing links and we need a consolidated accounts for all the activities of ADOS not fragmented statements of accounts,

It would be a great 'miracle' or great 'fix' if the 2010/2011 can be done at low costs and present a satisfactory effort.

Message from the Bishop's Commissary

Message from the Bishop’s Commissary
1_crop.jpgDiocesan Funds
To all concerned members of the Anglican Church of Sabah, and all Christian friends in and outside of Sabah, greetings in the Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, to whom be all praise, glory, honor and majesty.
In the past many months there have been allegations being spread around which have amounted to the perception that there was misappropriation of funds arising from the honorary auditor’s management letter.  In spite of the Diocese's detailed answers and explanations which were furnished to the honorary auditor subsequent to the queries raised in the audit management letter, the honorary auditor declined to professionally answer and defend his position he had taken and failed to complete the audit of the (2010/2011) Diocesan accounts after sending his staff member to re-audit the accounts for one day in response to the Diocese’s reply.  Subsequently he unilaterally resigned despite our appeal for him to complete his audit based on our answers to his audit queries raised in his management letter.
We have been left without a choice but to seek an independent external auditor to re-audit the respective two years’ accounts of 2010 and 2011. This exercise will be undertaken as soon as the current external auditor has completed the current audit of 2012 accounts.
NB. The detailed Diocese’s answers to the honorary auditor’s management queries can be accessed at the Diocese’s official website.
While a re-audit of the same by an external auditor is still pending, a rigorous exercise of professional re-examination (accounting wise) of the said accounts has been carried out. The findings have revealed some accounting procedural complications and erroneous entries, which have contributed to misinterpretations of the aforesaid accounts.
To the best of our knowledge, as coming from the Diocese's Standing Committee, there is no misappropriation of funds or loss of money.  The allegations are unfounded.
We urge the leadership of the Diocese of Sabah to be gracious and forgiving in response to the malicious slander that has so freely and irresponsibly been directed against the Bishop. Our greatest concern now is the influence of the slander that has affected the innocent minds of many people, which have caused discord among brethren and even division within some of their families.  It will take a long time for healing to take place.
We urge the whole Diocese to rise up in prayer and to move forward as a people of God who are committed to build and not to tear down, to fear God and not to fear man, to seek the truth and not to be tossed and swayed by every wind of doctrine and craftiness of deceit that comes in the way.  We encourage all people of God to live godly lives in the fear of the Lord, to do good to all people and to be salt and light in the world in the Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
