Registered church members must be Malaysians residing in Sabah

Resolution seeker and Charlie,
Every nation has its own ruling and in a registered society under the society act, only Malaysian aged 18 and above residing in Sabah can be accepted as full members while others can be accepted as associate members where such members are not allowed to hold office or vote at election of the executive committee.  There are some variations for some classes of membership in some registered societies.

I know Anglican churches formed 100 years and more have the concession to be excluded/exempted from the requirement of complying under the Society Act 1966. So we need to be conscious of this exemption and not go against the national system as far as members are concerned.  I don't believe we are exempted from the penal code for criminal activities within the church setting.  What was the intention to bring the Police into the church on 29 Aug 2012?  Possibly to enforce the penal code if disturbances occurred.

Now back to the registered members, and I think the whole registered membership system must be reviewed in line with the laws of the nation where all non national can come to church and become associate members without the right to vote for any motion or PCC elections or offer themselves to office.  So we need to verified all registered members are Malaysians residing in Sabah.

The way the whole thing is done for the elections  where registered members can bring their foreign passports to vote is really questionable especially some (numbers unknown) were recently registered as members for a hidden agenda.

The Society Act 1966 does not discriminate anybody by race or religion or creed but the nationality is the criteria.  So it is good practice for ADOS and ASC to comply with this aspect in line with the national policy.

Also the heads of all Boards of the ADOS should be Sabahans.

  2. Jackeline,

That is the law of the nation.

Don't tell me we do not submit to the laws of the land in Sabah and Malaysia.

We already have too many questioned foreigners in Sabah.

All foreigners are welcome to attend the church services without any problems.

To manage the church from a foreigner context is definitely debateable and dilute or even spoil the tradition of the ORDER of God.

My service to the church had been abundant and God knows.

    Thank you for your comment.

  3. You forget that you a foreigner in this land. Peter said 1Pe 2:11 Dear friends, you are foreigners and strangers on this earth. So I beg you not to surrender to those desires that fight against you. Why can we fight together and build together in this God's Kingdom? Why we need to differentiate our self because of u are local and i are foreigner? Don't mix it with RCI. The foreigner in our church working at Sabah legal. Pribumi Sabah is local...do you think that u are local??? You are Chinese and not pribumi. Please don't make any assumption that can make each congregation fight against each other.

  4. Dear Jackeline,

What you bring in is irrelevant and racism. Stop it.

The laws of the land must be applied for any NGO and an associated bodies be there in
    church or otherwise.

I hope the ADOS would call a debate on this.

    Joshua.

  5. Helo sir, issue of foreigner in this country is brought up by UMNO/BN to gain vote for them. After long time, then the people of Sabah want to fight it. Now only the minister want to settle it. but how??? In Kota Kinabalu itself, how many local pribumi attend church? Anglican, BCCM, Methodist, even SIB all are foreigners... Only church like PCS-protestant church of Sabah are local rungus. If we say stop, we say no need foreigner in our Anglican Church, beranilah sia cakap our attendance will drop up to 90%. All of them will go to BCCM...BCCM will very happy and thankful to us. You only see it outside Hosana Hall without entered it. Why not you enter and join together in worship? You will see something different. Like BN says no debate, its not our culture. Same thing applies to us... no debate, its not our culture. If u say u love God, u should love us. as we also love u as brothers in Christ.

  6. Dear Jak,

You are straying from the topic.

ADOS must settle this problem on registered members
must be Malaysians residing in Sabah.

I don't know what other churches do.

You are actually debating on this issue.

Anyone can attend churches to worship God.

Honestly telling you many people who call themselves
still use black magic to harm others.

I am a survival because Jesus loves me.

    Thank you for your sharing.

    Joshua.
