UBS whistleblower nets $104 million reward
    By James O'Toole @CNNMoney September 11, 2012: 4:53 PM ET

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- A former UBS banker who provided information on the firm's vast business of helping wealthy Americans hide their assets from the Internal Revenue Service has received a $104 million whistleblower reward, which his lawyers said was the largest in U.S. history.

Bradley Birkenfeld's tips helped pave the way for a 2009 settlement between the U.S. government and UBS (UBS) under which the bank agreed to pay $780 million in penalties and turn over the account information of thousands of U.S. clients.

Over 35,000 Americans have since participated in amnesty programs to repatriate their offshore accounts, netting the government over $5 billion in back taxes, fines and penalties, Birkenfeld's lawyers said in a statement Tuesday.

The IRS confirmed Birkenfeld's reward but declined to comment in detail about the case.

"The IRS believes that the whistleblower statute provides a valuable tool to combat tax non-compliance, and this award reflects our commitment to the law," the agency said in a statement.

The IRS Whistleblower Office was established in 2007, though Birkenfeld's lawyers said his was the first "major reward" it had granted. By law, whistleblowers can collect up to 30% of what the IRS recovers as a result of their tips.

Just to digress a bit from the heat on the bloggers, fighters (visible only), a reward is deserving when we can save the ADOS from total ruin as per “moses AVCF”.

    My comment —–
While we work hard on earth for God, we store up divine wealth in heaven..
How much is ADOS assets with many prime land worth? If 30% of that is how much? Just 10% of that would be substantial. I know many want to be paid up front for any assignment but where is the money going to come from?

Praise God for all the whistleblowers..

  12. There are still a few steps to do to STOP this stubborn BISHOPGATE to end as we all know who this AVCF is actually is.

Every measure or step need funding of sort.

While prayers and groups activities are to be encouraged, we need funds to actually have such functions.

All organisers of these events would need fund to conduct such events.

The fund we need is not small but substantial as the numbers of such events must be massive to make the impact desired.

So over to our generous friends.

For those who are sort of active in whatever effort to pursue such events (small and big) over a year, funds and resources must be running low, but by the Grace of God, we are on track and more PUSH in two aspects such PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS and POLICE URGED SOLE HOPE.

Image what would happen if the madman is stuck, how to remove him and gang?

Your ideas would need to be backed up by resources not talk and it is costly to walk the talks.

    God bless you.

    ReplyDelete
  13. How to match the madman with estimated stolen wealth from ADOS of RM100m?

But our God is so rich in every one of you.

We don't need anything like that to stop this madman still using church fund or God's money to waste on the Civil Court case. A dirty game is on too.

As a budget to match, we may need a couple of millions of RM.

We in the urban area may not have the number to match those in the rural areas, but God's mission would be fruitful as one can send thousands away and if we can raise up enough number, then we can tens of thousands away including AVCF and gang.

Nothing is impossible with God but it is our effort to make thing move fast on the ground.

AVCF is not working for ADOS as he has yet to produce his itinerary of 6 years as his personal agenda has consumed his time paid by ADOS, and is this in order?

  14. This is a very tough job -

First to remove AVCF and his gang so that we can put BISHOPGATE to sleep.

Secondly the new system is to rise up in ADOS - a very comprehensive effort.

Thirdly is to implement the new system to move forward ADOS to great height all depend on God to move his hands.

So in very big mission field of ADOS within Sabah and beyond, we need total commitment IN PUSH via PUSH.

So all need special funding as this is a new project needing new resources and we can start now.

My proposed vehicle is SABAH ANGLICANS FELLOWSHIP ENTITY (SAFE) to be running on all points and fronts.

    Praise God.

  15. Now I need more fund for the case to proceed now that the Consent of the State AG is granted under GPA 1956..

Please help as I have to do much more and full time now..

  16. Thank you for your support and hope others are doing likewise.

I have been the impression that AVCF as advised by SFool to fight to the end meaning it is a very long battle.

Whatever that battle be, it is to be costly unless some Anglican lawyers are prepared to go the journey.

You all know how the Court works...in term of time factor.

So it is now timely to start a legal fund enough to match the fight when AVCF would use church resources even in Sabbatical leave.

A good figure would be anything up to 6 figures and hopefully my lawyer would stay on course.

Six figure is no big deal if 1,000 members contribute just RM100 each.

So we need to work on that approach.
